About

A single girl in the big city…

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black's revised Tell Me on a Sunday charts the course of newly single girl arriving in New York in New York. Brimming with the optimism of ‘starting over’, she sets out to seek success, companionship and, of course, love. But as she weaves her way through the maze of the city and her own anxieties, frustrations and heartaches she begins to wonder whether - in fact - she's been looking for love in all the wrong places.

Starring Jolene Anderson from All Saints and the winner of It Takes Two in 2007 this will be a night not to be missed.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is one of the most prolific composers of our time having composed the music for Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Sunset Boulevard.

About

The Hatpin is a new Australian musical drama set in the Australian winter of 1892. It is the true story of Amber Murray, a single mother who advertised her baby in a newspaper trading column in the hope of saving his life...and ended up embroiled in one of the most captivating, moving and exciting criminal trials in Australian history.

This inspiring true story created awareness in Australia of the fundamental importance of the need for welfare for single mothers and was one of many that helped shape and inform Australia’s Child Protection Act.

The cream of Australian musical theatre has joined together to create this bold new work that will premiere at the York Theatre, Seymour Centre on 27 February 2008. The cast features newcomer Melle Stewart as Amber Murray; multi-award winning performer Caroline O’Connor as the compassionate and hilarious Harriet Piper, Peter Cousens as the darkly intriguing Charles Makin and Barry Crocker AM as dry-witted Justice Stephen.

With sensational new music from composer Peter Rutherford and book and lyrics by James Millar, The Hatpin is a ballad that promises to reveal the resilient nature of the human spirit in times of great loss as we follow a mother’s tireless battle to save her child.
